The National Confectioners Association, organizer of the annual Sweets & Snacks Expo, has announced it’s adding a CBD Gallery to the 2020 show, set for May 19-21 in Chicago.

The CBD Gallery will offer attendees an opportunity to learn more about the legal, regulatory and retail environment for hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD). It will be housed adjacent to but separate from the main show floor with its own entrance and security.

Education sessions are set to cover the regulatory landscape, sourcing and manufacturing, testing and labeling requirements, and marketing and advertising restrictions, among other topics.

A small number of ingredient suppliers, testing labs and legal counsel will be on hand as exhibitors. They may bring products for display only. No sampling or commerce will be permitted whatsoever, and cannabis-derived products will be strictly prohibited.

“The Sweets & Snacks Expo has built a reputation as the most important business venue for the snack and confectionery categories, and has a long history of evolving to meet marketplace demand — as well as responding to the current and future needs of our exhibitors and their customers,” NCA President John Downs and Senior Director of Expo Theresa Anthony wrote in an email to subscribers. “With the broad range of confectionery and snack manufacturers, trade customers, suppliers and brokers represented there, Expo is the natural home for education, exploration and examination of hemp-derived CBD.”

More details on education sessions and an exhibitor list will become available soon.
