An upcoming webinar will cover the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s role in oversight of hemp-derived cannabis products and food safety concerns associated with producing them.

The passage of the 2018 Farm Bill has fueled competitive innovation of cannabis products derived from hemp among food and beverage manufacturers. This webinar, set for Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. EST, will feature an overview of FDA’s role in regulating these products, FDA’s activities in this area, and regulatory and food safety challenges surrounding these products. 

Hear from Sharon Mayl, who serves as the senior advisor for policy to the Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response. In this position, she oversees and manages significant policy initiatives related to food safety. She currently focuses on implementation of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). 

Also speaking is Thuy Vu, founder and CEO of Thuy Vu Consulting. Vu’s firm is committed to training and educating industry and government agencies on food safety, life safety, and occupational health hazards of cannabis and industrial hemp consumer product manufacturing.
