Indiva Limited has suspended production of its THC lozenges after Heath Canada determined the company misclassified the products.

Indiva said the Canadian agency ruled that the company’s Wild Cherry THC Lozenges and Life Lemon THC Lozenges - available in 100 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg package formats - should be classified as “edibles,” rather than “extracts,” under applicable cannabis regulations.

Indiva noted that before it introduced the lozenges, the company “closely considered the regulatory requirements of the legislation, including with respect to product classification, and conducted substantial research” before classifying the lozenges as cannabis extracts.

While Health Canada has requested that Indiva cease production of the lozenges, the company said it may choose to continue manufacturing the products in alternative packaging formats.
