Keef Brands, founded in 2010 in Colorado, is launching its products in Ontario, Canada, with Alberta and British Columbia following closely behind.

Keef Brands’ expansion into Canada has come to fruition via a partnership with cannabis beverage leader BevCanna Enterprises Inc., which was announced earlier this year. BevCanna serves as the exclusive licensee, manufacturing and distribution partner for Keef Brands in Canada

“The Canadian cannabis market is ripe for innovation and accessibility, with products continuing to diversify and the demand for cannabis beverages on the rise,” said Keef Brands CEO Travis Tharp. “We are thrilled to partner with industry leader BevCanna to bring Keef Brands to Canada and introduce to consumers across three provinces a new way of drinking with friends."

Cannabis beverages are still relatively new to the Canadian market. They were first permitted in January 2020 and since then the market sector has grown steadily, as they now account for about 7.3% of total cannabis products sold in Q3 2021, according to Hifyre, BDSA’s Canada data partner, with strong sales projections for the future.

“We’re very excited about our partnership with Keef to launch their award winning products in the Canadian marketplace,” said BevCanna President Melise Panetta. “The Classic Sodas line is already a well-known and loved cannabis beverage brand in the US and Canadian consumers are eager to try it. We’re confident that it will be a strong brand in the Canadian market.”

Of Keef Brands’ extensive beverage portfolio in the United States, the first drinks to be available in Canada come from their top-selling Classic Soda product line. The flavors available include the award-winning Bubba Kush Root Beer, Original Cola and Orange Kush, with more to come.

“We set ourselves apart with drinks that taste great and have fast-acting effects – two very important elements for those who use cannabis as prescription medicine as well as for adults consuming cannabis for pleasure,” Tharp said. “Keef Brands brings people together as they connect over the shared experience of enjoying infused drinks.”

The expansion into Canada follows Keef Brands’ steady growth within the United States, including launching in three new states – Missouri, Ohio and Maine – earlier this year. The company currently operates in nine markets and is poised to have another benchmark year.

Keef Brands is the No. 1 cannabis beverage brand in the U.S. by dollar sales in 2021 to date, and has seen its dollar sales for the first half of 2021 more than double those from the same period in 2020, according to BDSA. Keef Brands currently offers eight of the Top 10 cannabis beverages in Colorado, as well as two of the Top 10 in California.
