The inaugural CPX20: Cannabis Products Exchange event, set for April 21-22 in Denver, will feature two keynote presentations that cover developing, producing and marketing cannabis-infused food and beverages.
On April 21, Eric Schnell, co-founder of Beyond Brands and mood33, a line of infused beverages, will present his insights gained while working with cannabis beverages. Schnell spent two years pioneering THC beverages in dispensaries on the West Coast before pivoting to CBD-infused drinks for mainstream retailers on the East Coast.
With diverse experience in sales, marketing and new product launches, Schnell enjoys taking ideas and turning them into viable businesses that make a global impact, through the consulting agency he founded, BeyondBrands. Schnell is also the co-founder of Steaz, a leading organic tea brand that was strategically acquired in 2016, as well as a member of Runa tea, which was successfully sold in 2018.
Schnell is a six-time annual winner of the BevNET.com and Beverage Digest “Best Product of the Year Award,” a Top 50 Beverage World Disruptor and is an active Nutrition Capital Network Selection Committee Member.
On April 22, Mike Hennesy, director of innovation for Wana Brands, will offer a roadmap to developing a quality cannabis food or beverage from ideation through launch. He’ll discuss concept development and market research, selecting ingredients and equipment and the importance of QA/QC.
Hennesy oversees research and development, business analytics, training programs and strategic partnership building at Wana. He developed the company’s online interactive training program that covers the science of the endocannabinoid system. Prior to his current role, Hennesy managed a sales team that expanded Wana’s availability to the majority of Colorado’s dispensaries, along with posting a three-year growth rate of nearly 270 percent.
